Swimwear Season Trends for 2014 with Molly Brown’s Swimwear

Newport Beach and swimwear go together like sand at the beach! And with daylight savings marking the beginning of more sunshine, it’s time to get in swimwear shopping mode.
To get the skinny on all things swimwear this season, I sat down with Molly Brown’s swimwear store owner, Donna to get an insider’s perspective.

Molly Brown’s Swimwear has been one of the hottest high-end swimwear retailers in the industry for over 35 years. We offer a large variety of sexy swim and resort-wear and along with accessories. 2. What’s hot for spring/summer 2014?
The 2014 swimwear season looks amazing! The designers seem to be on the best of their game and the consumers are ready to purchase again! I think this year will be a great year for all! Don’t miss the new look of Vitamin A Swimwear, the sexy new swimwear bottom from Luli Fama with the scalloped edge, as well as the many fashion forward tops that will translate so easy into an outfit when paired with the right shorts!

3. What is the must have piece for the upcoming season?
The must have piece for the 2014 swimwear season would have to be a neoprene suit! The fabric has come a long way from those in the 80’s and will be a great addition to any swimwear collection.

4. What is trending right now in the swimwear world?
Right now we are seeing a few new things trending. Fashion-forward rash guards are one of the new trends. This is a great piece because it can transition into a top for the day or night. Neoprene suits are also trending. Active wear style suits seem to be coming into the picture as well. Most of our customers are pretty active so I can see all of these doing really well.

5. What swimwear trends are you seeing in Newport Beach?
The swimwear trends that we are seeing in Newport Beach are specialty tops and bottoms such as a “strappy” look or the bra tops. These trends will continue into next season.

6. Where do you draw inspiration from when buying for the store?
Our inspiration for buying for the store comes from many different areas. The newest trends are very important, as well as up and coming designers. Our fitting room conversations tend to provide us with great input on what things look and fit great!

7. Where is your favorite Newport Beach location to wear a bikini?
Some of our favorite places to be seen in a bikini in Newport Beach would be standup paddle boarding, boating, or riding a bike on the boardwalk out on the peninsula.

8. What separates Molly Brown’s from other swimwear stores?
At Molly Brown’s Swimwear, we prides ourselves on welcoming anyone who walks into the store and making her feel confident and excited about her swimwear when she leaves. We understand that shopping for swimwear is not always a pleasant experience! We consider ourselves “Fit Specialists.” Each of our fully trained staff members has a way of getting women into the perfect swimwear. We are not satisfied until the customer is happy and leaving with a suit that truly fits them the way it’s supposed to. We also spend a lot of time on the phone fitting customers who are purchasing swimwear online because we understand it can be a difficult experience trying to shop online for swimwear.

Newport Beach is an ideal location for our store because it has so many things to offer. Not only is Newport Beach always sunny, but there are also tons of fun things to do in the sun such as paddle boarding, surfing, cruising around the harbor, waterfront dining, etc. With so many outdoor options, everyone needs a swimsuit!

10. What new and exciting things do you have planned for the future at Molly Brown’s?
Molly Brown’s has many new things coming this season from huge social media giveaways, new designers, and trunk shows, to meet-and-greets with the designers and trying on some swimwear, to possibly another store location opening soon!
