Named after the song Eartha Kitt and Louis Armstrong made famous, this French bakery and café has a flock of regulars who stop by all morning long for the dark-roasted coffee and a good assortment of Euro-style breads and pastries. In the early morning hours, expect to see lots of surfers catching a cup of java on their way to nearby swells in Newport or Huntington beaches. Later on, a well-heeled Newport-Mesa crowd turns out for a more leisurely brew. At lunch, you can grab a hearty sandwich in the tiny café and then browse the deli for imported French cheeses, wines and pâtés. Or, take home the signature bombe cake—a white-and-dark chocolate mousse creation covered with a rich chocolate shell—for a post-dinner delight.
