A&O (abbreviated from Anchors & Oceans) is one of Newport’s best gastropubs. Situated right along the shoreline, A&O has a rustic feel, with a reclaimed barn siding wall and gorgeous rustic wood floors. This spot is perfect for those who want to bite into a juicy burger in a cozy setting, overlooking the harbor. At A&O, meat lovers will find comfort in the Bacon Kobe Burger. It’s layered with “baconaise”, pickled onion, beefsteak heirloom tomato, and grilled romaine on a cheddar bacon bun. The Classic Kobe Burger is also a winner. Made with caramelized onions, shredded lettuce tossed in 1000 Island, dill pickles, house-made ketchup, and Vermont white cheddar cheese, all on a brioche bun, it’s delicious.
