Great Dining Choices in Newport Beach

July 24, 2012

CALLING ALL FOODIES!

There are hot culinary spots opening up all over Newport Beach this summer! From fresh baked breads to macaroons, ensuring that there is something for every foodie’s appetite. Pandor Artisan Boulangerie & Café specializing in authentic French artisan breads, Viennoiseries, pastries, tartines, paninis and salads, opened June 18 in Newport Beach’s Westcliff Plaza (1126 Irvine Avenue).

Stop by Pandor for a light lunch or take some delicious home-baked goods to-go and enjoy them overlooking the ocean at one of Newport Beach’s many scenic outlooks and parks! Beverly Hills based ‘lette Macaron recently opened its doors at Fashion Island and offers 14 classic macaron flavors, as well as seasonal flavors throughout the year. On a recent visit, we saw a rainbow of macarons in flavors such as classic Caribbean Chocolate and Raspberry, as well as the more exotic Earl Grey, Salted Caramel, Passion Fruit, and one of their most popular flavors, Sweet Wedding Almond. After a day of shopping at Fashion Island, a ‘lette Macaron is the perfect sweet treat! Also now open, Sweet and Saucy Shop, in Crystal Cove Shopping Center, creates elegant and contemporary custom cakes, cookies, and mini desserts for all occasions.

Stop by the dessert bar for a mini key lime pie, cake lollipops, mini s’mores tarts, and assorted desserts in shot glasses filled with chocolate mousse, lemon cream and berries. Not in the mood for something sweet? Newport Beach still has your cravings covered! Bear Flag Fish Co. recently opened its second restaurant in Crystal Cove Promenade. Best known for their killer fish tacos, Bear Flag’s casual environment is perfect for a beach day. Be sure to try their poke, burritos, and mahi-mahi fishplates, too!

Looking to end your day with a cocktail and a great view of the Newport Beach Harbor? DivBar Smokehouse Bar on Pacific Coast Highway just opened this summer and is ideal for an afternoon or evening on the waterfront. Jeff Reuter, owner of the popular Newport Beach restaurant Three-Thirty-Three, is planning on keeping the beers cold, the BBQ hot, and his guests happy with great food and views!
