Four Ways to Get on the Water at Night

August 26, 2013

It’s happening and we can’t fight it any longer! Our amazing summer season is transitioning into fall.

Undoubtedly, the daylight is noticeably shorter and most are in the dreaded back-to-school mode. But, don’t grieve summer just yet; we still love our life on the coast and even though daylight is shorter, there’s still so much to do!

And before you associate fall with being chilly, our fall season can be even warmer than summer. In fact, most locals love fall due to its amazing and sunny weather and less busy beaches.

In addition, thanks to our blessed topography, our distinctive bay-to-harbor-to-beach landscape gives Newport Beach the most recreation water space in all of Orange County! That means plenty of H20 fun!

Without further adieu, combining our love for all things aquatic and the amazing time of the year, here are your exclusive Newport Beach water activities, perfect for the present season!

Here’s your guide for exciting nocturnal Newport Beach adventures and for one last hurrah of the summer!

1. Peaceful Paddle:

Our friend and expert kayak instructor Danny Hough with Newport Aquatic Center will lead novice to advance kayakers through the serene Back Bay and the one-of-a-kind Newport Harbor under the light of the moon.

It’s an easy paddle with magnificent views! You will get a narrated tour of the Back Bay and Newport Harbor.

Glide along the magnificent bird estuary, and through our Harbor lined with stunning island homes.

Danny extends the evening by stopping for hot chocolate or a Newport Beach Original frozen banana or Balboa Bar on quaint and charming Balboa Island.

What a perfect and peaceful way to end the day!

2. For Some Excitement:

Experience the ultimate Stand Up Paddleboard adventure with Pirate Coast Paddle Co!

How fun is this, your PCPC guide will lead you throughout exquisite Newport Beach waterways for an hour and a half – all while paddling on a waterproof glow-in-the-dark stand up paddleboard! It’s an awesome scene; everyone’s board is equipped with a waterproof LED light, which will guide your way through the water!

This new adventure is a true experience you shouldn’t miss! And you can enjoy a number of other adventures with Pirate Coast Paddle Co., including Wild Wednesday!

You paddle into the sunset for an hour, then end the day with a visit to SOL Cocina, amazing delicious Baja comida, for a glorious Happy Hour on the water! Cheers!

3. Romantic Rendezvous:

Nothing is more romantic than a Gondola ride through intricate canals in a gorgeous city! You may be thinking you have to jet set to a far away destination, but before you pack your bags, know that you can have that entire experience here in Newport Beach!

Our four magnificent Gondola companies  in Newport Beach can provide a true romantic experience.

There’s no work involved for you two, just snuggle under a warm blanket at sunset as the gondolier serenades the two of you over drinks, dinner and dessert!  It sincerely is a magical evening to remember!

Just sit back… relax and enjoy the scenery!

4. Friend or Family Time:

And you don’t need to be an expert sailor to enjoy this nautical Newport Beach tradition. Invented right here in Newport Beach, the eco-friendly Duffy Electric Boat allows even someone with no maritime experience to be captain!

What’s great is that the Duffy Electric Boats from Adventures Boat Rental are available for rental until midnight. You can cruise from sunset to after-dark listen to your favorite songs with snacks and beverages aboard!
