Strolling Marine Avenue on charming Balboa Island is a real joy with one-of-a-kind boutiques, shops & restaurants. Hop on board the Balboa Ferry that’s been shuttling cars, people, bikes and sunbathers between the Peninsula and the Island for almost 100 years.
You may feel like you’re walking in a movie set as you stroll along the waterfront and in fact you are! Newport Harbor was a favorite Hollywood film locale and you’ll hear about some of the famous movies and TV shows such as “The OC” that were filmed or set in Newport, and the stars that made their homes here for many years. The combination of cozy cottages, stunning homes, and the 7,000+ yachts and sailboats makes for a camera-ready moment!
Over on the Balboa Peninsula, you’ll take in the Fun Zone, anchored by the historic Pavilion, hub of the social scene back in the era of the Big Bands, and home to the Nautical Museum, then continue out to the Balboa Pier where the big, wide blue Pacific awaits!
