5 Things Coming to Newport Beach this Spring
Spring has officially sprung! The days are longer, the weather is heating up and the wildflowers are beginning to bloom, and if that doesn’t lighten your mood, we don’t know what does. There’s so much to look forward to this season—from live music festivals to new restaurants and shops opening their doors. And whether you’re a Newport Beach local or plan to visit, you’ll want to mark your calendar! We’ve rounded up five exciting things to look forward to this year in our coastal enclave of Orange County.
Word on the street, there’s a new ice cream shop coming soon, and we’ve got the inside scoop. Salt & Straw, originally founded in Portland, Oregon, is making its way to Newport Beach! The popular creamery is set to open its doors on Westcliff Drive this summer, so you can look forward to snagging a scoop after you hit the beach. And if you aren’t familiar with Salt & Straw’s “daringly delicious ice cream crafted with unthinkable care,” you’re in for a real treat. The shop whips up a variety of avante-garde flavors, like pear and blue cheese, honey lavender and freckled mint chocolate chip. You’ll have to taste it to believe it.
Coming to Newport’s shopping mecca, Fashion Island, is the New Zealand-American company, Allbirds! This sustainable shoes and apparel company will open its new brick-and-mortar store this year (date TBD). You’ll be able to shop their collection of men’s and women’s athleisure apparel and shoes, all crafted with eco-friendly, natural materials, like eucalyptus trees and merino wool. There’s no better place to upgrade your wardrobe!
That’s right—Newport Beach is adding yet another luxury hotel to its portfolio! What is currently the Fashion Island Hotel will soon (in 2023) transform into Pendry Newport Beach—a stylish and sophisticated urban resort in the heart of it all. Future guests can expect everything from a world-class spa and outdoor pool to three signature dining destinations and rooms with sweeping ocean views. The resort will also feature 14,000 square feet of meeting and event spaces, along with a private membership club focused on cultivating community. Pendry, we welcome you with open arms.
Mark your calendars! The Newport Beach Jazz Festival is back and better than ever! From June 3-5, you can experience live music, great food and breathtaking views of the Back Bay at the iconic Hyatt Regency Newport Beach. This exciting festival will feature an international food court and a variety of vendors, so you can chow down while you jam out! The Friday festivities will be held in the hotel’s Back Bay Amphitheater, while the Saturday and Sunday performances will take place on the Back Bay Golf Course. In case you missed it, Corona del Mar recently welcomed a new fast-casual restaurant into its charming seaside community! The Jetty, a seafood-centric New American snack shack located at Corona del Mar State Beach, is whipping up a variety of tasty bites for beachgoers. This après-surf spot serves everything from breakfast burritos to burgers, sandwiches and poke bowls. Enjoy an afternoon at the beach this spring, and stop by this bustling spot to cure your cravings! Pro tip: try the lobster roll—it does not disappoint.
