Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race: Must-See Event
The 4th Annual Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race Kick-Off Fiesta takes place on April 13 from 11am to 4pm at the Balboa Village Parking Lot, and it’s an event that you don’t want to miss! Balboa Village, home of the Fun Zone, will be hosting a day full of live music, race boats on display, classic car display, art exhibits, children’s boat building at ExplorOcean, and the La Strada dell’ Arte chalk festival.
Also held at the Kick-off Fiesta is the Taste of Balboa, where you can sample local Balboa Village restaurants. Featuring a variety of local restaurants serving up tastes of their signature dishes, you are able to savor an assortment of tastes including pasta, seafood, burgers, noodles, pizza and more from some of Balboa Village’s most beloved restaurants.
Admission is free! So don’t miss the opportunity to spend the day at one of Newport Beach’s most beloved neighborhoods enjoying nautical-themed fun as you prepare for the 67th Newport to Ensenada International Yacht Race to take place the following weekend.
An event rich with history, the Race has been a seaside spectacle to behold. Attracting celebrities such as Humphrey Bogart Humphrey Bogart and Walter Cronkite, as well as America’s Cup winners Dennis Conner, Roy Disney and Steve Fossett, the event draws audiences from all walks of life to experience the largest international yacht race in the world. And with all the activities taking place before and during the week of the race, you definitely don’t have to be a sailor to enjoy the festivities!
Other pre-race events include the Yachtsmen’s Luncheon, Wednesday, April 23 at the Newport Harbor Yacht Club and the famous “Fiesta in the Fun Zone” on Thursday night, April 24, at Harborside Restaurant. The event will include food stations, live music, and cocktails.
On the big race day, April 25th, don’t miss seeing hundreds of boats set out to sea from Newport Harbor – a truly nautical spectacle.
