5 Things We’re Excited About in March
Two months down, 10 to go. Can you believe it’s almost March already? As they say, “time flies when you’re having fun,” and if you’re a Newport Beach local, you know there’s plenty of fun to be had in our city by the sea! And as we turn the page on another 30 days, we can’t help but be excited for what’s to come. From spring break staycations to St. Patrick’s Day festivities, we’ve rounded up five things to look forward to this March. Mark your calendars—these events and activities will have you feeling all the springtime feels.
When: March 2-6
Hosted at one of the most iconic greens on the West Coast (Newport Beach Country Club), the annual Hoag Classic is back for another week of excitement. This tournament attracts a field of professional golfers, creating compelling competition for all in attendance. This year, fans can watch as defending champion Ernie Els returns in hopes of becoming the first back-to-back winner of the Hoag Classic. Other golf legends in attendance include 2008 champion Bernhard Langer, and newcomers Jim Furyk, David Duval and KJ Choi. In case you didn’t know, Newport Beach plays host to its fair share of Irish pubs and restaurants. And if you’re looking for a place to celebrate St. Paddy’s this year, we’ve got you covered! From Muldoon’s Irish Pub near Fashion Island to Malarky’s on the bustling Balboa Peninsula, there is no shortage of places to sip Guinness and indulge in some traditional corned beef and cabbage. March Madness kicks off on the 13th, which means it’s time to gear up for nearly three weeks of nail-biting NCAA basketball games! This heated, single-elimination tournament will have you on the edge of your bar stool as college teams across the country face off in hopes of making the final four. And lucky for Newport Beach dwellers, there are a number of spots to catch all the action.
