Get on the Green at Newport Beach’s Signature Golf Event

February 19, 2014

The 20th Anniversary of the Toshiba Classic is coming soon, which means you’ll have the opportunity to see legends of the golf-world compete in one of Newport Beach’s most beloved sporting events.

On March 10-16, 2014, watch as defending champion David Frost takes on Fred Couples, Bernhard Langer, Tom Watson, Jay Haas, Corey Pavin, Fuzzy Zoeller and more at the Newport Beach Country Club!

Don’t forget to attend the many events taking place during tournament week!

Breakfast with a Champion, presented by The Allergan Foundation, will take place on Tuesday, March 11 at 7 a.m. at the Balboa Bay Resort.  The breakfast will recognize Toshiba Classic Chairman, Mr. Atsutoshi Nishida and 2010 European Ryder Cup Captain and PGA Champions Tour rookie, Colin Montgomerie. The breakfast will also serve as the annual platform to announce the Toshiba Classic Scholarship Fund winners.

On Thursday, March 13, network with Orange County business professionals at the second annual Women’s Business Day. The program begins with a golf clinic on the Newport Beach Country Club driving range with LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame member Amy Alcott and other PGA Champions Tour professionals. Enjoy discussions about the health and business benefits behind the game of golf, and then head to the Garden tent for cocktail hour and guest speakers.

March 15-16 join Toshiba and Goodwill of Orange County at the Toshiba “Swing for the Green,” where the first 250 guests who bring an old electronic device to recycle will receive two tickets to the Toshiba Classic. Officials are encouraging guests to bring one large electronic device (such as a laptop or tablet) or five small items. This is a great opportunity to dispose of your old electronics in a safe, responsible way. Recycling headquarters is at the Toshiba Classic Main Entrance.

Over the past 16 years, the tournament has raised over $16 million for its lead beneficiary Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian as well as other charities in Orange County. In addition to helping local charities, the Toshiba Classic Scholarship Program has provided over $249,000 in scholarships and support to local schools and over $400,000 worth of Toshiba laptops to local high schools and seniors. The tournament represents so much more than a sporting event; it’s an opportunity to get involved in your community while witnessing the golf greats accomplish big wins.

Don’t miss the opportunity to catch all the Toshiba Classic action in Newport Beach!
