Spring Shoe Trends

March 2, 2015

What do you get when you take a gladiator sandal, sneakers and slip on mules? You get the best of the best in shoe trends for this coming spring, of course! And we seem to be in luck this season because all the newest and loveliest are also quite comfortable, so throw out those platforms and slip into these must have shoes for Spring.

A style that never goes out of fashion —the gladiator sandal—is as associated with courageous warriors as it is with downtown boho sensibilities. Created ages ago by goddesses, the laced-up sandal remains the shoe of choice for the most stylish of mortals with an astute sense of chic. And they can be found all over Newport Beach, including the ever so popular Rock Stud’s by Valentino’s from Mi Place or the budget friendly choices of Sam Edelman at Tooties off of West Cliff. Complementary to leggy looks, the style experienced a rebirth in the miniskirted sixties: not only did they match the fashions of the time, but their neo-classical vibe suited the decade’s sense of renewal, so perhaps we’re back on the cusp of a new modern age.

Say goodbye to uncomfortable heels and hello to arch support! Casual-chic sneakers are everywhere from high top, low tops and slip-on’s. But they can be tricky so to pull them off stay modern and fresh, rather than lazy or gym-esque by trying a few of these brands that work best. Nike, an athletic standard that comes in a plethora of styles and colors, can be found the Nike store in Fashion Island, or go sleek and funky with Silver Crown Sneakers found at Laguna Supply on PCH in Corona del Mar. Indulge in a myriad of colors and patterns at A’maree’s with their collection of chic Celine Slip-on’s. They’ll snaz up and take your most casual look to the next level; opt for one’s in neutral gray, black or white hues and animal prints; or in deep colors like cobalt blue or maroon so that they add a cool accent to your outfit. You can easily pair this trend with what’s already in your closet – skirts, dresses, oversized coats, and cropped pants.

Once a signature shoe for the 60-set, this spring trend has had a youthful makeover and we couldn’t be happier. You’d be hard pressed to find a designer who didn’t show the easy slides on their Spring 2015 runways; and whether their floral adorned flats, a chunky heel, or a sleek stiletto, the new mule is something you’ll want to slip into. Fashion Island seems to be the spot to snag the trend. Try a streamlined open toe and chunk heel from Vince, color blocked Fendi Stiletto at Neiman Marcus or he wedge Joie Mule from Anthropologie. Anyone you choose will be fantastic, stock up and slip on!
