NBFF Now Accepting 2014 Film Submissions
Are you a filmmaker dying to reach the silver screen? The Newport Beach Film Festival is looking to bring to Orange County the best of classic and contemporary filmmaking from around the world. Submissions for the 2014 Newport Beach Film Festival are now being accepted. The festival runs from April 24, 2014 to May 1st and was founded in 1999 evolving into a prestigious multicultural event, attracting more than 50-thousand people each year. 400 films will be screened over 8 days at the festival that prides itself on bringing the best in new, local, international and critically acclaimed cinema to Newport Beach.
Submitting is simple. Filmmakers can upload their product through Withoutabox.com.
The entry fees right now are nearly half-price from the final deadline fees set in January. If you submit by September 20th you pay:
- $40 to submit a feature
- $35 to submit a short
- $20 to submit a music video
- $10 for the youth film showcase (18 & under)
Opening night screens at Big Newport in Fashion Island, one of the largest indoor movie screens on the West Coast. Last year’s opening night was a tremendous success as Broadway Idiot debuted. The hit movie was filmed over four year and provided rare access behind the curtain of the popular band, Green Day.
Since its inception, the Festival has presented many acclaimed films such as the U.S. Premiere of Crash and other notable films including (500) Days of Summer, The Cove, Waitress, Son of Rambow, Paprika, Broken English, American Teen, Fugitive Pieces, Death Note: The Last Name, The King of Kong, Layer Cake, The Illusionist, Art School Confidential, Emmanuel’s Gift, Mad Hot Ballroom, Metallica: Some Kind of Monster, Spellbound, Castle in the Sky, Born into Brothels, and Pieces of April. Through tributes, special screenings and seminars, the Festival has honored film industry notables, including Aaron Sorkin, Haskell Wexler, Robert Wise, Henry Bumstead, Elmer Bernstein, John Waters, Alan Arkin, Bruce Brown, Richard Sherman, Penelope Spheeris, and McG.
